EXPAND YOUR WORLD
Vast, dramatic and beautiful. Deserts are like imaginations and clouds, ever-changing with fantastical things taking shape.
DAY ONE & TWO
Undeniably a thrilling safari, with a challenging trail for experienced riders. Fit, intermediate and advanced riders will find it comfortable.
Namibia Horse Safari Company, who have been perfecting the art of remote horse riding safaris in one of the most beautiful places on the planet, will collect the group from Windhoek airport. Day Two enjoys an exciting five hour journey into the desert followed by lunch in camp. After lunch the group will visit the world heritage site Sossusvlei and delight in the spectacular views.
DAY THREE & FOUR
This superb trail encircles the Naukluft (narrow gorge) mountains. With deep river valleys and rocky outcrops the route includes a smattering of freshwater springs, providing the perfect escape from the desert heat.
Later, relax with refreshing sundowners in the soft evening light and watch as the spectacular Milky Way sparkles it's way into the night sky.
DAY FIVE & SIX
Enroute to the Namib plains, the trail crosses two steep sided river canyons. First the smaller Gaub, followed by the 150m deep Kuiseb Canyon.
A technical descent, which requires some walking and scrambling in and out of the canyon. The trail follows the tracks of Mountain Zebra crisscrossing the steep sides of the canyon. The Kuiseb forms a dramatic end to the 400km long Namib Sand Sea.
DAY SEVEN - TEN
From the vast shapeshifting Namib Plains to the ancient Swakop River basin, and on to the cold, misty Atlantic ocean, with a final gallop along the deserted shoreline.
Traversing dry watercourses, the much favoured resting place of giraffe, springbok and oryx, the trail winds through a captivating landscape. Mirages form and disappear and the gnarled Welwitschia Mirabilis plant tells of a land of great antiquity and tremendous solitude. The Swakopmund river basin (600 million years old) exposes a bizarre moon-like landscape with curious black dolerite intrusions forming whalebacks on the surrounding hills.
DAY ELEVEN
Returning to Windhoek.
A five hour transfer back to Windhoek, where the group begin their onward adventures or homeward journeys.
